9. The Spanish Virgin Islands

Off the east coast of Puerto Rico lie the islands of Culebra and Vieques, better known as the Spanish Virgin Islands. Located just 8 miles from Fajardo, Culebra offers charming island life and sandy beaches. Stop at the friendly Mamacitas for dinner and you’ll be treated to authentic Puerto Rican dishes and fresh seafood. A quick sail south finds you in the anchorages off the island of Vieques. A nighttime visit to Puerto Mosquito beach is a must to swim in its bioluminescent water.
