New Boat: Beneteau 34

2009 February 2
The Beneteau 34 bridges the gap between the manufacturer's 31- and 37-foot cruisers, providing a performance-oriented mid-sized cruiser at a reasonable price.

The hull is hand-laid solid GRP bonded to a structural hull liner for a light, strong hull. The nine-tenths fractional aluminum mast is deck-stepped and features a roller-furling mainsail. The genoa is also roller furling for easy sail handling.

The cockpit seats have a solid wood inlay, and a hinged helmsman seat opens to provide access to the swim platform. A cockpit shower is mounted to starboard.

Down below, a U-shaped settee is to port and a chart table to starboard faces the companionway.

The galley has a two-burner stove and front-opening refrigerator. The head is to starboard.

The owner's cabin is forward and features a double berth, hanging locker and under-berth storage. An aft cabin on the port side also has a double berth.
Designed by Finot-Conq, the Beneteau 34 is an ideal midsized cruiser for a couple or small family that offers the best in high-tech sail-handling solutions to make sailing not only fun, but easy. This isn't a boat that will stay in the slip.
