New Boat: Dehler 60

Dehler’s new flagship 60-footer is typical of the line: full of sleek, crazy good looks that make you want to sell the house and move onto a boat. For the 60, the company stuck with its proven formula of a low cabinhouse, open transom, European-styled boat. This boat definitely falls into the racer-cruiser category, and its underwater profile is indicative of its speed potential. A T-bulb carrying 5,550 pounds of ballast lurks nearly 11 feet below the water’s surface and the blade rudder has a carbon fiber post. The sailplan features a popular and functional non-overlapping headsail rig. The fractional rig has three spreaders and masthead spinnakers. The standard boom is aluminum, but a carbon fiber version is optional for those who wish to maximize their weight savings.

The deck layout is clean, in fitting with Dehler’s esthetic. Dual helm stations offer a good view. The mainsheet is led to a winch near the helm, but control lines are led to a pit area on the coachroof. Lockers are located below the cockpit seats.

Down below, the saloon has a U-shaped dining area opposite a large settee. The galley features Corian countertops. An owner’s cabin is aft with a double berth and an ensuite head with a separate shower stall. The forepeak is designed as a storage area and guest cabins feature double berths. The 60 is able to be customized for owners.

Two 53-gallon fuel tanks and a 16-gallon “day tank” offer plenty of range, which will come in handy because owners will definitely want to hang around on this beauty.
