The Paine 14 is an updated version of the Herreshoff 12½. While retaining classic lines above the waterline, the Paine has a modern fin keel and separate rudder for improved handling. The 14 is available in fiberglass with varnished mahogany trim, or for a more traditional look, hand-built in cold-molded wood. At approximately 60% of the weight of the original 12½, and about 10% smaller, the 14 is easily trailered and stowed, but with half the 14’s weight in its keel, the boat feels as stable as a much bigger boat.
