1. The British Virgin Islands

Without question, the No. 1 pick for a winter getaway is the BVI. With its rowdy sailing in the Drake Passage to the many anchorages in this Caribbean island chain, the BVI has more to offer cruisers. The Baths, with its unique rock formations is a must stop on the island of Virgin Gorda. And where else can you anchor off your own deserted island of Sandy Cay? Not to mention the plethora of beach bars on Jost Van Dyke, from the famous Foxy’s and Soggy Dollar to the quaint Ivan’s Stress Free and Sidney’s Peace and Love, where you can get the largest lobsters fresh off the boat from Anegada. A visit to the Bitter End Yacht Club seals the deal.
